After a year in development, Cyberpunk 2077: Apex is an exciting new expansion to the hit CD Projekt RED RPG that not only offers a new place to call home, but also quests, loot, interactions, and even a unique weather event which will put the likes of Dune to shame.
For players who already own both Cyberpunk 2077 and its DLC Phantom Liberty, this free expansion is perfect for those looking for some brand-new content which also fits into the lore of Night City and beyond.
Cyberpunk 2077: Apex Is By Fans, For Fans
Available to download for free on Nexus Mods, Cyberpunk 2077: Apex adds a brand-new location to the Badlands area of the map, allowing players to explore the new environment and even embark on a quest to get the keys for a new safehouse. With the new home offering unique interactions such as cooking food, watching movies in bed, and practicing on your very own shooting range, it is safe to say that this safehouse will be more than just a throwaway feature.
Not only that, but in an attempt to link Cyberpunk 2077: Apex to the already established lore of the game, the modders, Nox and MrBilL61, have come up with a backstory for the new safehouse and its surroundings.
A remnant of the Unification War, many a nomad has gazed upon it’s weather-beaten façade; But few dare venture to its gates.
Nobody is really sure why Militech left the site, but many have tried claiming it for themselves.
Every time, though, the facility’s still-active and lethal defenses have kept them at bay.
That is until an unorthodox crew of mercenaries, with business in Night City, successfully breached its security and repurposed it as their base of operations for a time.
Now it stands to be claimed again—or rather, it beckons to be.
We’ll Take Any Excuse To Return To Night City
As the first installment in a multipart location and quest chain, Cyberpunk 2077: Apex also offers more unique features, such as a large garage where V can store their currently active vehicle, more small buildings littered around the area which offer unique loot, shards, and secrets, a new weather event which could see you get stuck in a sandstorm, and even an interaction where you can repair your vehicle in the workshop.
It is clear that this mod was made by Cyberpunk 2077 fans for Cyberpunk 2077 fans as it offers us everything that we have been asking for over the years, and definitely features that we will expect to see in the highly anticipated sequel. Not only that, but with Cyberpunk 2077: Apex expected to offer even more content over time, this is a mod that you will want to keep your eye on if you are eager to return to Night City and get stuck into exciting new features.
