Ajax sporting director Marijn Beuker has confirmed interest in re-signing Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen on a free transfer.

The Denmark international has been with the Red Devils for the past three years, but he is expected to leave when his contract expires on June 30.

Eriksen has already ruled out a move to another Premier League club while he has no interest in moving to the United States or Saudi Arabia either.

Ajax are therefore in a strong position to secure his services. Eriksen previously made over 150 appearances for them between 2009 and 2013.

Eriksen has fond memories with the Amsterdam giants and could be tempted to join the club on a free transfer deal. He may have to accept a big pay-cut.

Jordan Henderson is presently the highest earner at Ajax at around £75,000 per week. Eriksen earns double at United and may have to accept a 50 percent reduction.

Eriksen was previously on Ajax’s radar last summer, but the Dutch outfit were unwilling to negotiate a transfer fee with the Red Devils at the time.
