Gabriel returns early from international duty

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has returned early from Brazil duty as he is suspended for the World Cup qualifier against Argentina.

The Gunners have had a frustrating international break. Riccardo Calafiori picked up a knee injury playing for Italy against Germany.

The left-back has returned to the club for examination, but initial reports claim that he could be out of action for two to three weeks.

Meanwhile, Jurrien Timber has also withdrawn from the Netherlands squad, having failed to recover from a minor illness in recent days.

Alongside the duo, Gabriel has now returned to the Gunners too.

The Brazilian is fully fit and has no issues. He has been permitted to leave his country’s camp after his booking against Colombia recently.

It was Gabriel’s second yellow card of the World Cup campaign and he is therefore suspended for the crunch game versus Argentina.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be hoping that Timber can recover in time for the Premier League clash against Fulham on April 1.
