However, Xbox users are officially getting three new free downloads in March 2026 that they can grab right now with no Xbox Game Pass subscription and no strings attached (via PureXbox).

If you’re an Xbox Series X/S user and are looking for some brand-new free content, there are officially three brand-new dynamic backgrounds available for download now. They include two first-party dynamic backgrounds and a beautiful new Crimson Desert-themed background, and you don’t need to jump through any hoops or have an Xbox Game Pass subscription to claim them.

The Crimson Desert dynamic background features an authentic design from Pearl Abyss’s newly released open-world game that’s become a global phenomenon since its release last week. Further, Xbox users can download two new first-party dynamic backgrounds for Towerborne and Sea of Thieves.

Players can search and find the new backgrounds from Settings > General > Personalization > My Background > Dynamic Backgrounds, and can select from a range of old and new dynamic backgrounds.
