Avengers and X-Men Combine into Most Powerful Comic Team of All Time

Marvel is officially introducing the most powerful Avengers roster of all time, including ultra-powerful Asgardians and A-list X-Men characters, including Cyclops, Wolverine, Colossus, Jean Grey and more.

The Avengers and X-Men have often been allies in the comics, but they rarely serve on the same team, with the exception of the Avengers Unity Squad, which deliberately draws a diverse roster of humans, mutants, Inhumans and androids.

However, against a towering new threat, the two teams have officially merged – and you won’t believe who’s acting as their leader…

In today’s Godzilla: Infinity Roar #2 – from Gerry Duggan, Ig Guara, Javier Garrón, Jesus Aburtov and Travis Lanham – Odin assembles a historic team to bring down the King of Monsters. As Godzilla fights and kills Galactus, Odin reaches out and summons three groups to his side – the Avengers, the X-Men, and Hela’s undead legion.

The resulting team is the definitive gathering of Marvel’s A-list heroes, including Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Magik, Enchantress and Hela. A more powerful team of mortals has never existed in Marvel canon.

Infinity Roar is a direct sequel to the recent Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe, and sees Godzilla under the control of Knull, aka the King in Black. Outfitted with a black symbiote suit, Godzilla is heading inexorably for Asgard, with Knull planning to use the kaiju to wipe out Odin’s kingdom.

In response, Odin has summoned the heroes of Earth – those who, albeit briefly, beat back Godzilla the last time he emerged. So far, pitting Godzilla against Dormammu, King Ghidorah and Galactus has only slowed him down, and even this hero team may struggle to survive.

AVENGERS' NEW BATTLE MECH FIGHTING GODZILLA

It’s awesome to see the Avengers, X-Men and Asgardians standing together as a single team, but it will take a lot to outdo the spectacle of Godzilla’s last attack.

In Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe, Black Panther and Iron Man created a mech powered by key members of the Avengers and X-Men, with Spider-Man’s webs, Cyclops’ optic blasts, and Doctor Strange’s magic.

That mech was pivotal to fending off Godzilla, while also symbolizing how the teams were combining their powers. Now, Infinity Roar demands something even stronger. This time, it’s more likely to be some kind of magic that combines their might, given the addition of characters like Hela and Enchantress, who are among the most powerful mystics in Marvel lore.
