Barcelona in doubt over Bernardo Silva transfer

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has frequently been linked with a move to Barcelona, and while in the past the La Liga giants held back over concerns regarding a potential transfer fee, his contract expires at the end of the season and he has not made any comments about his preference for the next step.

According to Sport, Barcelona are still intrigued by the prospect of signing such a proven, high-quality player, but they feel a ball-playing midfielder is not a priority for them in the transfer market at this point. They have plenty of young talent there, and signing a centre-back and a forward would represent enough of an investment.

The 31-year-old has several interesting offers on his table, including from Juventus and Benfica, as well as from Saudi Arabia.

Over the nine seasons spent at the Etihad, Silva has made a total of 449 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s team in all competitions, scoring 76 goals and providing 77 assists so far.
