Two camps who find themselves leading the chase in the play-off hunt, Carlisle will travel to Yorkshire on Tuesday night when they meet Halifax.
Starting with the hosts, while Halifax might have suffered play-off heartbreak last season, the Shaymen haven’t shown any signs of a hangover this time around. Last seen over the weekend putting in another dominant display as they stormed their way to a thumping 3-0 victory away at Solihull Moors, Adam Lakeland’s side are enjoying what has become a real National League flurry. Likewise, last seen in Yorkshire clinching a rollercoaster 3-2 win against Boreham Wood, Halifax have won each of their previous three appearances by an aggregate score of 7-2. Skyrocketing back into the play-off places, Halifax have also found a recent clinical edge in the final third. Signing off February with back-to-back 2-2 stalemates against Sutton and Halifax, Tuesday’s hosts have recorded at least two goals in four of their last five National League showdowns. However, it should be noted, the Shaymen have conceded a pair of goals in their last four straight matchups in front of their own supporters.
As for the visitors, making an immediate return to winning ways over the weekend as they stormed their way to a thumping 6-2 victory at home against Boston, Carlisle will be dreaming of a repeat display here. Opening Tuesday’s trip to Yorkshire sat in bronze medal position, Mark Hughes’ men have their sights firmly set on securing a lucrative Football League return in 2026. Suffering just a single defeat from any of their previous five appearances, the one-time Manchester City boss has seen his squad gain a reputation for their clinical performances in the final third. Signing off February with a 2-1 victory away at Eastleigh, Carlisle have notched at least a pair of goals in seven of their previous nine National League appearances. However, it should be noted, Hughes’ promotion contenders have recorded just a single clean sheet from any of their first eight matchups so far this calendar year.
