Star Wars actor John Boyega sparked excitement among fans about a possible return to the franchise in the near future at MEGACON Orlando, revealing that discussions were happening behind the scenes.

Star Wars is currently in a transitional period as Lucasfilm balances its streaming successes with a return to theatrical releases. After focusing heavily on Disney+ shows, the studio is preparing to bring the saga back to cinemas with The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is set to be the first Star Wars film released since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.

While speaking during a panel, Boyega, who is best known for portraying Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy (The Rise of Skywalker, The Force Awakens, and The Last Jedi), was asked about the possibility of reprising his role in future projects. One enthusiastic fan reportedly shouted, “Get Dave [Filoni] on the phone.” And the actor’s response immediately grabbed the audience’s attention.

The star stated, “I actually have, actually,” implying that discussions with the President and Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm, Filoni, may have already taken place. The brief but significant comment likely has Star Wars fans in a frenzy as they eagerly await the potential return of Finn in future projects.

Filoni, who has become an integral figure in shaping modern Star Wars projects such as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, is widely seen by fans as someone who could meaningfully expand Boyega’s character. Many viewers have expressed that Finn, who was introduced as a stormtrooper and later joined the Resistance, had untapped potential and deserved far more screen time.
