Dark Souls is among the most iconic and beloved FromSoftware franchises of all time, and it’s no wonder fans are eager for any news on what the future holds for the IP.
While it’s still unclear if players will get a modern remaster from the Dark Souls trilogy or even a possible Dark Souls 4, fans will want to mark their calendars for a brand-new release coming later this year.
Dark Souls Is Getting An Official New Sequel
It’s an exciting time for Dark Souls fans, with an official new sequel to the Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning comic book saga slated for release (via Titan Comics). The officially licensed Dark Souls series from George Mann, Mother of Mourning, is slated to release the fourth and final installment in May.
Mother of Mourning is an ongoing comic book adaptation of the beloved Dark Souls franchise that follows the Knights of Mourning on a perilous journey “in search of a hero to rekindle the flame.” The Knights resort to worshiping a “soulless saint” known as the Mother of Lillies, who legends suggest has the ability “restore balance to the world.”
Mother of Mourning #3 was just recently released on March 18 to critical acclaim, and fans will be excited to see how the series wraps up when #4 drops this spring.
It’s Been Pushed Back To May 20
Mother of Mourning #4 was originally scheduled to release on April 8, but after an unexpected delay was pushed back to May 20, 2026, giving fans a bit more time to get caught up with the series if they haven’t had the chance yet.
Each issue of Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning is a roughly 32-page comic from author George Mann and artist Maan House, and it’s a FromSoftware and Bandai Namco-licensed series that is highly praised among fans of the franchise. Each issue will cost roughly $5 USD and will be available at your local comic book stores and select online retailers such as Amazon.
With the final entry in the series finally coming out in May, it’s likely a full anthology will be released at some point this year with all four comics in one collection, though it hasn’t been announced just yet. If you’re looking for a Dark Souls fix, the Mother of Mourning series is the perfect addition to any hardcore fan’s collection.
