Zelda Meets Valheim In Gorgeous New Sandbox RPG

Open World sandbox RPGs are a dime a dozen on Steam right now, but every now and again, something special catches the eye. The premise of playing a game that takes all the best elements of Valheim and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and blends them seamlessly into a sprawling adventure is too good to pass up.

Elements on Steam promises just that. The crafting and base building from Valheim mixed with the risk/reward exploration and combat of a modern Zelda game sounds like a good time for all. Set for launch later this year with no confirmed release date yet, Elements is already shaping up to be an RPG adventure you won’t soon forget.

If You Love Zelda, Check Out Elements

Elements looks to offer something for everyone and the visuals might just have you reminiscing about The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Exploration includes choosing your path carefully through the lands of Elemythia, solving puzzles and uncovering secrets on your journey. You can traverse the world on tamable mounts and the game very much encourages curiosity and experimentation.

The art style is a little cartoonish and, on the cute side, more akin to Zelda: The Windwaker which is never a bad thing. Throw in some magic for good measure, and you’ll soon be tackling new areas like your cosplaying every character from The Lord of the Rings!

Combat offers many options to suit your play style. From melee swordplay, to ranged attacks with magical spells or even your trusty bow and arrow, there seems to be plenty of ways to dispose of your foes. The elemental stones you’re trying to retrieve are guarded by powerful enemies, so it’s fairly safe to assume we can expect some epic boss battles to rival the bouts between Link and Ganondorf.

There’s A Touch Of Valheim In Here Too

Co-Op Crafting And Customization

It’s not all Zelda-inspired elements though (pun intended). Like Valheim, there is a focus on co-op gameplay, and you can really get into the weeds when it comes to crafting, building and customizing your character. Build a base and personalize it so you and your buddy have a place to call home. Gathering resources, growing crops and crafting new gear to level up might be key to pushing forward in Elements and having a friend fighting beside you, might be the difference between success and failure.

Whether you’re looking to hone your skills and craft the perfect character build, or just want to rush into the unknown blades first to see what happens, Elements looks like it has something for everyone. The devs are open to community support and feedback, so hopefully, once the game launches later this year, we’ll see it grow and flourish into something truly special. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a remarkable RPG freebie to play on Steam while we wait for a release date for Elements!
