Report, result and goals as Bavarians cruise into quarter-finals

A vintage Bayern Munich performance completed a dominant 10-2 aggregate wim over Atalanta, with Harry Kane and teenage sensation Lennart Karl the standout figures in a ruthless second-leg display at the Allianz Arena.

Kane, captaining Bayern in the Champions League for the first time, broke the deadlock from the penalty spot after Scalvini’s handball, though Sportiello initially saved his effort, only for the keeper to be penalised for coming off his line. The retake was dispatched into the bottom corner.

The tie was effectively killed within two minutes of the second half. Kane turned two defenders brilliantly before blasting into the top corner, and 18-year-old Karl arrived onto a Diaz pass moments later to slot home calmly at the far post, the second-youngest Bayern player to score in a Champions League knockout match.

Luis Diaz completed the scoring in stunning fashion, taking Karl’s through ball in his stride before chipping a helpless Sportiello from the edge of the box.

Lazar Samardzic headed a late consolation for Atalanta, but it barely registered as a footnote.
