Arsenal will make a fresh approach to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko at the end of the campaign, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners were tipped to land the Slovenian star last summer, but the striker ended up penning a new long-term deal with Leipzig.

In the process, his €65m release clause was removed and Leipzig are now in a strong position to demand a higher fee for his future transfer.

Romano has now revealed that Sesko may opt for a new challenge in the summer and Arsenal are bound to make a fresh move for him.

He said: “The understanding is that there will be a chance for Benjamin Sesko to try something different in the summer, so Arsenal will be there for sure.

“He’s one of the top strikers in their list, they believe he could be a top candidate for the striker position.”

Sesko has had a good campaign with Leipzig. He has accumulated 15 goals and four assists from 30 appearances in all competitions.

The 21-year-old was reluctant to join Arsenal last summer after the impressive form of Kai Havertz earlier in the calendar year.

However, he could be tempted to sign for them this summer. Sesko could be assured a starting spot with Havertz’s inconsistent form this term.
