Naruto has had a pretty rocky history since Naruto: Shippuden, but a new promo for Naruto Mobile has two of the most popular characters in the franchise looking outstanding.

The original Naruto series didn’t rely on technology too much, and neither did Shippuden. Boruto, however, puts a heavy emphasis on tech, creating a new, interesting dynamic within the Naruto franchise.

While Boruto wasn’t what fans wanted whatsoever, this new promotional video for Naruto Mobile shows how the technology/cyberpunk aesthetic could have fit perfectly within the world of Naruto.

Boruto Really Dropped the Ball

Nobody asked for Boruto, and it shows. It’s one of the worst sequels to a major anime series ever, standing right next to the unfortunate Dragon Ball GT. Boruto feels like a major step back for Naruto in so many different ways that it’s almost hard to understand how it came out in the first place.

Luckily, Boruto’s next anime series is looking to improve the series massively, introducing a time skip, a much more serious tone, and action on a greater scale. While the second edition of Boruto is more interesting than the first, the first did a great job of introducing ninja-adjacent technology, adding a new layer to the Naruto universe.

Naruto is centered on ninja, hand-to-hand combat, and amazing abilities. A cyberpunk vibe somehow fits the more old-school universe of Naruto perfectly, and a brand-new opening animation for Naruto Mobile’s 10th anniversary shows that off perfectly.

Naruto Mobile Shows How Great Naruto and Sasuke Could Look

Naruto and Sasuke have never looked better than they do in the brand-new CGI opening animation for Naruto Mobile. Somehow, they fit the cyberpunk aesthetic perfectly, and it feels like Naruto was always meant to incorporate some version of cyberpunk into its design.

The video showcases Naruto and Sasuke teaming up to take down the Ten-Tails. It’s a quick, minute-long video that is non-stop action from start to finish. Naruto looks excellent in his trademark orange, while Sasuke’s purple undertones fit the cyberpunk world almost too well.

The two team up with a Kurama avatar and Susano’o to fly at the Ten-Tails, shredding it into pixels in an instant. It’s a great way to celebrate Naruto Mobile’s 10th anniversary and an even better way to showcase just how universal Naruto and Sasuke are.

Will We Ever Get a Cyberpunk Naruto?

The addition of technology and ninja tools in Boruto is one of the few good parts of the series, and the sequel to Naruto: Shippuden could seriously benefit from a cyberpunk vibe. Naruto and Sasuke look too good in this video for it to be a one-off, and if Boruto had only leaned into this art direction more, maybe it would’ve been better.

We may never see a full rendition of Cyberpunk Naruto, but at least this clip does a solid job of showing what it could look like. Even if we never get a Cyberpunk Naruto anime, an open-world game version would be unreal. Running around a world reminiscent of Cyberpunk: 2077 as either Naruto or Sasuke would be amazing.

Naruto Mobile has a ton of amazing trailers that will make any fan of the franchise fall even deeper in love with the world of Naruto. It’s already one of the best anime franchises of all time, and with art elements like this, it could become even greater.
