Hulk Just Unlocked The Ultimate Form Of His Most Underrated Superpower

Marvel’s Hulk continues to break records as he achieves unprecedented feats of power. Hulk’s strength lacks a definitive ceiling, fueled by Gamma radiation and triggered by adrenaline. In a prolonged conflict, the Hulk becomes a self-sustaining engine of destruction that eventually outscales nearly any opponent.

Throughout his sixty-year history, the Hulk has back up his limitless reputation with feats that defy even comic book physics. Hulk famously held up a 150-billion-ton mountain range during the original Secret Wars to prevent his fellow heroes from being crushed, and he has pulled Sakaar’s tectonic plates together. More recently, the Hulk has reached even more abstract heights, such as punching through the fabric of time.

When Hulk decides to attack, there’s usually no way of stopping them, especially if Marvel gives him free rein to destroy.

Hulk Can Jump Across The Globe With Perfect Precision

The Leader, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, and Mister Fantastic witness Hulk leap in Hulk Smash Everything #4

Hulk’s unstoppable rampage after being pushed to the limit by the Leader has reached a tipping point as the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes intervene in Hulk Smash Everything #4. The Leader uses magic to escape from the Hulk to New York, where he meets Avengers and the Fantastic Four. Yet, in a matter of minutes, or perhaps seconds, Hulks leaps from Latveria directly to New York, landing exactly where the Leader is. Not only is Hulk’s jump incredibly potent but also mind-blowingly precise.

The physics of this leap are staggering from a scientific and mathematical standpoint. The distance from Latveria’s Central/Eastern European location to New York City is approximately 4,000 miles (6,437 km). If the Leader takes around three minutes to compose himself and meet NYC’s heroes, Hulk’s average velocity would be a mind-numbing 80,000 mph (128,747 km/h), which is roughly Mach 104. To put that in perspective, this is more than triple the speed required for Earth’s escape velocity and enough speed to vaporize his skin.

It would take around nine hours for a commercial plane to travel from Latveria to New York. A concorde would finish this flight in around three hours and a half.

Although Hulk’s jumping power has always been part of his superhuman skills, this latest feat against the Leader displays a terrifying evolution of his capabilities. Leaping from the fictional Eastern European nation of Latveria to the heart of Manhattan requires a level of thought that his current rampage conceals. Otherwise, Hulk’s muscle memory instinctively calculates wind resistance, planetary curvature, and the exact coordination of the Leader’s movements. Hulk also lands carefully enough to scare the Leader but not level the city, showing his equally impressive restraint.

Hulk’s Powers Go Way Beyond Just Strength

Hulk’s anatomy is a Swiss Army knife of secondary survival traits that allow him to thrive where other heroes would perish. Beyond his strength, Hulk possesses an adaptive respiratory system that allows him to breathe underwater and survive the vacuum of space by mutating his lungs on the fly. He also possesses a natural astral perception, a byproduct of his link to the Below-Place, which lets him see and interact with ghosts and astral forms invisible to the naked eye.

Everyone Wants to Know Who Can Beat the Hulk, But Marvel Already Gave Us the Answer

Hulk may be one of Marvel’s strongest heroes, but his vulnerabilities are just as intriguing.

The Immortal Hulk era expanded this repertoire into the realm of high-concept body horror and cosmic mysticism. Al Ewing’s acclaimed run revealed that Hulk’s healing factor is autonomous, as his body parts can reform independently. More terrifyingly, this run introduced retroactive immortality through the Green Door, which ensures that no matter how he’s killed, Hulk will always return.

These tertiary powers make the Hulk a biological anomaly even among Gamma mutates. Hulk is so powerful that he can rewrite the laws of biology and physics to suit his needs. He can punch through dimensional barriers, and his fractured mind acts as a labyrinth that even the strongest psychics cannot navigate. The Green Goliath from Hulk Smash Everything is a particularly strong version of the character, but the mainline variant can pull off similar feats if pushed to the limit.
