Have a Sweet Weekend. | Cup of Jo

baby

What are you up to this weekend? I’m getting over the worst cold and cough (ahem), so tonight we are staying home and ordering Indian food. Nothing a little chana masala can’t solve. Hope you have a good one, and here are a few links from around the web…

How gorgeous are these hair before-and-afters????

This week, I went to a dinner party at cookbook author Casey Elsass’s apartment, and his dishes were amazing, but my favorite part was that, instead of cheese or nuts, he set out a bowl of Nacho Cheese Doritos at the beginning and everyone freaking LOVED it.

Wow, photos of ice water swimmers in Ireland.

My skin has felt dry and dull all winter, and after trying everything, this moisturizer saved the day. It’s SO GOOD, you guys.

Digging the design of this postage stamp.

Hard feelings. “Over the past week, the Iranian American community has been fracturing in real time across dinner tables, in group chats, in the silence of blocked numbers.” (NYMag, via Maybe Baby) Also, a few ways to help.

50 ways to meet your neighbors. “33. Shovel someone’s sidewalk. It’s also great cardio. 34. Rake someone’s leaves. 35. Take to the front stoop/steps/porch/yard. This is your time to shine!”

The best black pants I’ve ever found.

Pulling this out for picnics, stoop hangs, and weekend trips.

The Guardian’s ‘Experience’ column is wild: “I won a Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest.” “I’m a professional chef in Antarctica.” “I woke up with a Welsh accent.”

This is how I feel about New York and Michigan!

Who wants a burrito bowl?

Made me laugh.

Plus, four reader comments:

Says Amber J. on seven spring trends: “I would like to encourage everyone that trying a very-new-to-you trend is only weird the first time or two. The first time you wear your baseball cap backwards, people might say, ‘Why are you wearing your hat that way?’ But when they’ve seen you do it three times, they just think, ‘Oh, that’s what she does.’ Then you’re home free!”

Says Kayla on Minneapolis pancakes: “This post made my whole dang day. Ideal Diner is one of my favorite spots in Minneapolis. As a regular, I’ve made friends by sharing my pancakes with new customers. I did it so often that the cook would joke, ‘I swear we don’t pay her to do this.’ That diner is a damn gem. Their motto is: ‘Where regular people are special, and special people are regular.’ Hugs from MN! (Message me if you wanna meet at Ideal.)”

Says Katie on Minneapolis pancakes: “When my daughter was two, we had to fill out a get-to-know-me chart for daycare. When asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she said, ‘Buttered bread.’”

Says Jackie on how are you doing: “Something I like about myself: I am not afraid to be bad at things. Honestly, I am not a quick learner, and I don’t have much natural talent. I like that I still put myself out there.”
