After decades of teases and mysterious silhouettes, fans might finally get the chance to see One Piece’s strongest character in history, Joy Boy. But for this to happen, the fandom needs to unite and work together.

One Piece’s strongest character, Joy Boy, was first mentioned way back in the Fish-Man Island Arc, when Robin found his apology letter to the mermaid princess Poseidon carved on a Poneglyph in the Sea Forest.

Since then, Eiichiro Oda has dropped hints here and there before showing him as a silhouette during a flashback conversation with Emet during the Egghead Island arc. However, fans have yet to see what he really looks like.

This makes him an official contender to get a dedicated illustration penned directly by Oda himself. If Joy Boy actually manages to get enough votes, Oda will have to draw him just like he promised. However, there’s still a catch.

Given how secretive Oda has been with legendary characters such as him, he might just troll the entire fanbase by drawing another silhouette instead of finally revealing his actual face.

Honestly, this makes perfect sense. It would be a pretty bizarre move to drop a massive lore reveal in a popularity poll rather than saving it for the main story. Then again, Oda is completely unpredictable, and he does whatever he wants, such as placing the secret about The One Piece at the bottom of the ocean.

Of course, with how wild the Elbaph arc is currently going, there is also a strong chance Oda will officially reveal Joy Boy’s design in the manga before the poll results are even announced. If that happens, it would completely clear the way for him to draw a fully detailed illustration of the character by the time the contest ends.

The voting for the 2nd Worldwide ONE PIECE Character Popularity Poll “WORLD TOP 100″ officially began on March 4, 2026, and will last till June 11, 2026. During this period, fans can vote for their favorite character every day at 10 AM EST.

Voting can be done through either the One Piece W100 website, the ONE PIECE BASE app, or a postcard. Online votes carry 1 point, while postcard votes are worth 10 points. However, the postcard votes are limited to the Japanese region.

This massive popularity poll features over 1,560 characters, covering almost everyone who has appeared in the manga from Chapter 0 all the way to Chapter 1166. Whether viewers want to back a mysterious figure like Joy Boy or throw their support behind the Fake Straw Hats, they can vote for whoever they want.
