T20 World Cup 2026 Awards: Full list of winners – From Jasprit Bumrah to Sanju Samson

India’s dominant 96-run victory over New Zealand in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will be remembered not only for the team’s historic third title but also for the remarkable individual performances that defined the tournament. Several players produced unforgettable moments throughout the competition, and the awards list reflected just how impactful those performances were.

Sanju Samson’s stunning redemption

One of the biggest stories of the tournament belonged to Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, who was named Player of the Tournament. His campaign turned into a dramatic redemption arc that captured the imagination of cricket fans across the world.

Samson had not always been a guaranteed pick in the playing XI earlier in his career, but when his moment arrived in this tournament, he made it count in spectacular fashion. In just five innings, the 31-year-old amassed 321 runs at an incredible average of 80.25 while striking the ball at a blistering strike rate of nearly 200.

His performances became even more crucial during the knockout stages, where he delivered three consecutive match-winning innings. Samson scored an unbeaten 97 off 50 balls against West Indies in the Super 8 stage, followed it with 89 off 46 balls in the semi-final against England, and then repeated the same score—89 from 46 deliveries—in the final against New Zealand.

With his tally of 321 runs, Samson also surpassed Virat Kohli’s record of 319 runs for the most runs by an Indian batter in a single T20 World Cup edition. He was equally destructive with the bat, smashing a tournament-record 24 sixes and setting a new benchmark for power-hitting in the competition.

Jasprit Bumrah’s match-winning spell in the final

While Samson dominated with the bat throughout the tournament, the final belonged to India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. The fast bowler delivered a clinical spell that dismantled New Zealand’s chase and effectively sealed India’s victory.

Bumrah finished with figures of 4 for 15 in his four overs – his best bowling performance in T20 internationals – and was deservedly named Player of the Match in the final.

Speaking after receiving the award, Bumrah admitted the moment was deeply emotional for him. He said winning a final at his home venue made the achievement even more special, especially after previously experiencing disappointment in a major final there. He also explained that he entered the game with a clear plan and strong motivation to deliver for his team.

A historic triumph for Team India

India’s title win carried immense historical significance. With victories in 2007, 2024 and now 2026, the Men in Blue became the first team to win the Men’s T20 World Cup three times. They also became the first side to successfully defend the title.

The triumph also made India the first host nation to win the Men’s T20 World Cup and marked their third consecutive ICC trophy following the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy.

With both team success and individual brilliance on display, the 2026 T20 World Cup will go down as one of the most memorable chapters in Indian cricket history.
