1 Character’s Absence From The Boys Season 5’s Trailer Spells A Dark Future

One character’s limited screen time in The Boys season 5’s trailer makes it hard not to believe that a bleak future lies ahead for him.

Since season 1, The Boys has not held back from killing off some of its primary characters in the most brutal ways. Given how The Boys season 5 marks the end of the hit Prime Video sci-fi show, it seems very likely it will take a no-holds-barred approach towards portraying the deaths of some of its most loved characters. Among all of them, one character seems to have been marked for death for quite some time.

The fact that he is almost absent from The Boys season 5’s recent trailer seems to give away that things will not end too well for him. The Prime Video sci-fi series could still defy expectations, but it would be surprising if the character in question ends up staying alive till the end of the season.

The Boys Season 5’s Trailer Spells A Concerning Fate For A-Train

Jessie T Usher as A-Train in The Boys season 4

Unlike most other main adult characters from The Boys‘ universe, A-Train barely shows up for a few seconds in the show’s new season 5 trailer. His limited screen time in the trailer itself makes it hard not to believe that he will not survive in The Boys‘ final chapter. A-Train’s doom seemed imminent in The Boys season 4 itself when he betrayed Homelander and supported Butcher and the team.

He even saved Annie, Butcher, and MM from Black Noir and The Deep despite knowing that it would ultimately put him at odds with Homelander.

While most characters in The Boys have always been at the extreme ends of the moral spectrum, A-Train has had a few redeeming traits, even though he has done some truly evil things. Since he killed Hughie’s girlfriend, Robin, in The Boys‘ opening moments, it always seemed fitting that his story would end with him sacrificing himself and finally finding redemption.

From the looks of it, he will finally get the redemption he seeks in The Boys season 5. However, this will come with a major cost.

Interestingly, there is also a sequence in The Boys season 5’s trailer in which Homelander flies at full speed while chasing someone. He even seems to have his heatwave eyes activated, suggesting that he plans to kill whoever he is chasing. It seems likely that this chase scene features a showdown between Homelander and A-Train. If this holds true, A-Train’s chances of survival seem minimal.

Homelander has previously been completely unforgiving towards those who defied or betrayed him. He even ruthlessly killed Black Noir despite liking him more than all the other members of The Seven. Owing to this, if he ends up seeing A-Train again, he will not think twice before getting him out of his way for good.

Many Main Characters Will Likely Die In The Boys Season 5

Apart from A-Train, it seems likely that many characters will end up dead by the time The Boys season 5’s credits start rolling. Homelander himself may not make it till the end of the season. Billy Butcher already has death looming over him, while some of the younger supe characters from Gen V also seem vulnerable.

The Boys ends its long with season 5. In a lot of ways, the upcoming installment is the show’s Avengers: Endgame equivalent. The MCU still preserved many of its many characters throughout its runtime by giving them plot armor. The Boys, however, will not do the same as it has always been far more willing to shock viewers by brutally killing off major characters when they least expect it.

While it is impossible to foresee who will eventually end up dead in The Boys season 5, A-Train’s fate almost seems sealed. Homelander, too, will experience a monumental rise in the final installment before seeing a major fall from grace. Meanwhile, if Butcher ends up using the supe-killing virus, many supes will perish before the Prime Video series concludes its run.
