3 Best Movies To Watch On Netflix This Weekend (March 7-8)

Netflix subscribers are in for one of the most exciting weekends on the streaming service this year, as the best movies to watch on Netflix include an action-packed new release, a sci-fi franchise’s latest chapter, and an erotic thriller that shocked the world. On last weekend’s Netflix movie recommendations, I talked about Firebreak, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, and Power Rangers.

Similar to last week’s list, the three best movies to watch on Netflix this weekend are made up of a mix between licensed films and Netflix Originals. Additionally, all of them are thrillers, though a couple are also made for sci-fi fans. All in all, these options should make for the perfect three-movie binge.

War Machine (2026)

This weekend is one for those looking to stay on the edge of their seats for one reason or another. First up is Netflix’s new blockbuster Original, War Machine. The movie stars Reacher‘s Alan Ritchson as a member of an elite team who must give it his all to save the rest of his squad and make it out alive.

War Machine is so exciting because it starts as a typical war movie with an action genre specialist in the form of Ritchson. However, the movie has a major sci-fi plot twist, which I won’t spoil, that completely changes the game. War Machine has a solid 80% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. Dennis Quaid, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, and more also star.

Jurassic World Rebirth (2025)

Another sci-fi thriller to keep the blood pumping is Jurassic World Rebirth. After recently arriving on the streaming service in the United States, the fan-favorite franchise entry is currently the most-watched movie on Netflix nationwide. If you missed Jurassic World Rebirth in theaters, now is the time to watch it, so don’t wait too much!

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard make way for a new generation of Jurassic World stars, as Scarlett Johansson’s Zora Bennet, a skilled former special forces operative, enlists the help of Jonathan Bailey’s Dr. Henry Loomis, a paleontologist, and Mahershala Ali’s Duncan Kincaid, one of Zora’s mercenary contacts, to extract DNA samples from three enormous dinosaur species. A high-stakes mission with both new and familiar elements for Jurassic World fans.

Fifty Shades of Grey (2015)

Finally, the most different recommendation on the list is the spicy erotic thriller that started a popular film franchise. All three movies in the Fifty Shades trilogy arrived on Netflix on March 1. As such, now is the perfect time for a binge for those who have never watched the films or who want to relive this dark romance. Fifty Shades of Grey is where to start.

Given how two erotic thriller series — 56 Days on Prime Video and Vladimir on Netflix — are dominating streaming, Fifty Shades of Grey is a fitting choice for the weekend.

Dakota Johnson’s Anastasia Steele is a shy English Literature student who sees her world change when Jamie Dorna’s Christian Grey, a billionaire CEO, takes a liking to her. The pair soon start to explore each other’s past — and bodies — as a steamy BDSM relationship blooms. This one is not for the faint of heart. In the end, all three thrillers are great options for different kinds of viewers this weekend on Netflix.
