Dungeons and Dragons had a very productive 2025, with books like the new 5th Edition Monster Manual, Eberron: Forge of the Artificer, and Heroes of Faerûn expanding player options and DM tools. 2026 is likely to see a slew of new content too, with fresh books adding even more to the iconic TTRPG. Several announced materials already look promising, especially for groups who need some extra guidance.
Ever since 2024’s 5e rule changes, D&D books have been released with the new edition of the game in mind. For example, Heroes of Faerûn added new character subclass options that directly worked with 5th edition changes. Additional books in 2026 will likely do the same thing, possibly reworking older content from 2014’s 5e ruleset or officially releasing content seen in Unearthed Arcana playtesting.
What D&D Has Planned For 2026
Multiple Projects Aim To Support Players In Many Ways
D&D‘s 2026 plans feature three “seasons” of content, with each season focusing on a different flavor of fantasy roleplaying. The first is the “Season of Horror,” which runs from April to June. Fans of Curse of Strahd will get a lot out of this period, with a sourcebook, Tarokka deck, DM screen, map pack, and organized play all emphasizing the Ravenloft setting and horror themes.
Second is the “Season of Magic,” which runs from July to September. This will bring new rules and adventures with an emphasis on magic, along with reference card decks and a “high magic” season of organized play.
Lastly, the “Season of Champions” runs from October to December. The details for this season have yet to be revealed, but its name suggests that it could be a martial counterpart to the Season of Magic or another brand of heroic fantasy. Dragonlance has been rumored as an upcoming possibility, which would fit the Champions name. Either way, it sounds like a major change of pace from the Season of Horror.
Some of the new content planned for 2026 seem to focus either on expanding resources for D&D players or modifying older settings from the game’s history for 5th Edition. For example, a Collector’s Edition of the iconic 3e Dragonlance setting is getting a new book, reprinting the fan-favorite trilogy of adventures with new behind-the-scenes material from the original writers.
Re-releasing nostalgic D&D settings and giving players supplemental “companion” books seems to be a priority in the new year. Multiple workbooks releasing in 2026 also aim to help players adopt the new 2024 5e rules, either to make characters or run adventures. This gives players far more tools for their campaigns, such as detailed structures needed to flesh out the world or characters used in their games.
All D&D Books Releasing In 2026
Every New Novel Brings Something Different To The TTRPG
As of this time of writing, there are two major D&D sourcebooks and an adventure expansion revealed for 2026, along with several other books of different varieties.
The following table covers the sourcebooks and adventure expansion announced for 2026:
D&D Book |
Release Date |
Price |
Description |
|---|---|---|---|
Ravenloft: The Horrors Within |
Master Tier: June 2, 2026 Hero Tier: June 9, 2026 Wide Release: June 16, 2026 |
$59.99 |
Sourcebook with new horror-themed subclasses and more, supporting campaigns in the Ravenloft setting or other horror concepts. |
Arcana Unleashed |
September 2026 |
$49.99 |

Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall |
September 2026 |
$29.99 |
Adventure focusing on the Red Wizards of Thay |
Interestingly, Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall follows the cheaper pricing model set by last year. D&D calls it an “adventure expansion,” suggesting it will likewise be a smaller tome than usual. D&D‘s last full-length campaign book released in 2024, so perhaps the Season of Champions will bring a new hefty campaign.
Other D&D books are less connected to the core rules, but could still be fun for dedicated fans. One is a planned re-release of former adventures, updated for the 2024 5e rules. Two more are supplemental “companion” books, which provide brainstorming prompts, advice, and other help for players or DMs trying to get their creative juices flowing.

For now, the planned books for 2026 will be great additions to Dungeons and Dragons‘ expanding source material as new rules are explored more and more by new and veteran players.
