It may have officially been five years since Cyberpunk 2077 was first launched, but half a decade on and the CD Projekt RED RPG is still earning its popularity by regularly incentivizing fans to return to the indulgent world of Night City. Thanks to multiple major updates, patches, and most importantly, its first and only DLC, Phantom Liberty, Cyberpunk 2077 has gone from strength to strength since its questionable 2020 launch.
Now, as part of the ongoing 5th anniversary celebrations, the official Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Twitter account has announced another exciting release.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS Is Available Now
Back in September 2022, Netflix collaborated with CD Projekt RED to bring fans the animated show Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Set in the same fictional world, yet telling the story of a bunch of new characters, the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime was an instant hit, and now, a second season is currently in development. Now with the two worlds colliding, the story continues as a brand-new installment has been announced.
Shared on the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Twitter account, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS Volume 1 is now available as Dark Horse Comics releases its English version. Acting as a prequel to the events of the show, MADNESS was written by CD Projekt RED’s Franchise Creative Director, Bartosz Sztybor, with art from Asano who worked both on the illustrations and the stunning cover art. Not only that, but Cyberpunk: Edgerunner fans will notice that the story focuses on a familiar, and beloved, face.
This Is A Prequel To Cyberpunk 2077 And Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
Yes, you saw correctly, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS Volume 1 will tell the story of Rebecca and her big brother Pilar as they pursue their dreams of becoming a legendary edgerunner, just like their father.
And in Night City, where violence, greed, and corruption run rampant, they’ll have to abandon who they once were and dive headlong into the mayhem, where they’ll struggle, suffer, and sow chaos everywhere they go! But when a mysterious man appears, the trajectory of their future takes a turn. Witness pure madness as they rush through Night City to prove themselves as edgerunners!
Published earlier this week, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS Volume 1 is just the first installment in what we can expect to be a long-running saga and with the story expected to follow the beloved anime characters, it is a collection that all fans will want to get stuck into. As an avid Cyberpunk 2077 fan who is obsessed with the entire futuristic world, I will definitely be diving into this prequel story, and it will also no doubt inspire yet another rewatch of the Netflix anime.
