Aston Villa aim for free Harry Wilson transfer

According to the Telegraph, Aston Villa are very keen to sign Harry Wilson on a free transfer when his contract at Fulham expires at the end of the season. The attacking midfielder/winger is also believed to be of interest to Everton, and while it’s not easy to imagine a product of Liverpool’s academy opting to join the Toffees, it wouldn’t be unheard of.

Wilson left Liverpool to join Fulham for around £13million in 2021, and he has grown into one of the most influential players at Craven Cottage since. This term, the 28-year-old missed one Premier League game through injury, and appeared in all the rest, 23 times as a starter and twice off the bench. In all competitions, he has scored nine goals and contributed five assists across 30 matches so far.

Aston Villa were interested in signing Wilson in January, but the club had to prioritize a centre-forward and eventually brought back Tammy Abraham. Their interest, however, remains, and they will make their move in the summer.
