Tudor named Tottenham head coach for rest of season

Tottenham have announced Igor Tudor as their new head coach until the end of the season.

Spurs sacked Thomas Frank after just under eight months in charge on Wednesday, following their 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United.

Tudor has been out of work since he was dismissed by Juventus in late October, following an eight-game winless run.

Spurs currently sit 16th in the Premier League table following their eight-game winless streak and sit just five points above the relegation zone.

And Tudor’s priority is to keep Spurs in the top-flight, with the club saying in their announcement: “Igor joins us with a clear focus: to improve performances, deliver results and move us up the Premier League table.”

“It is an honour to join this club at an important moment,” Tudor said of his arrival.

“I understand the responsibility I have been handed, and my focus is clear. To bring greater consistency to our performances and compete with conviction in every match.

“There is strong quality in this playing squad, and my job is to organise it, energise it and improve our results quickly.”

Tudor has previously taken charge of Udinese, Hajduk Split, Verona, Marseille, Lazio and Juventus.

With the Bianconeri, Tudor took charge of 17 games in Serie A, winning eight of those (D6 L3), averaging 1.8 points per game and finishing with a 47.1%-win rate.

His first match in charge of Spurs will be the north London derby against Premier League leaders Arsenal on February 22.
