Hip-hop beef that goes back years came to an unexpected peak when Ja Rule realized he was on the same plane as long-time rivals Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda. Footage has emerged of the group calling insults back and forth across the aisles before Ja Rule was removed from the plane. Thankfully, it doesn’t appear that the argument became too violent and ended after an airplane pillow was thrown across a chair.
The argument was uploaded online by Uncle Murda almost as soon as it happened. Yayo and Murda were seen mocking Jah Rule, sitting in his now unoccupied seat. Even this many years down the line, the old hip-hop feud stays strong. The pair made it look like Jah Rule ran from the plane, but footage released later reveals that, in fact, Ja Rule gave as good as he got before he was escorted off.
The caption added to the video of Uncle Murda sitting in the recently vacated seat states, “Ja got off the plane lol I took his seat.” He’s insinuating that Ja Rule left because of them, but the rapper has another side to the story. He was quick to clap back online, letting fans know he didn’t run from the conflict.
Initially, all that was shown was the perspective of Yayo after the fact. But, as Ja Rule was quick to highlight, he was the one who instigated the pillow fight, and he was the one who was removed from the flight. In a profanity-laced X update, he gave his side of the story.
In a further set of tweets, Rule continued to clarify the matter, giving witness statements provided by TMZ and proving that they were both escorted off. Although it appeared that only he was taken aside, apparently, both were taken out and given a stern warning by the airline crew and security. However, it doesn’t appear that they were allowed to sit next to each other again.
The beef between Ja Rule and Yayo goes way back to 1999, when 50 Cent, a member of a group including Murda and Yayo, claims one of his crew snatched Rules chain. Ja Rule denies this, but from there, the whole thing escalated. It came to a peak in the fall of the same year when 50 Cent punched Ja Rule, and a fight broke out involving multiple crew members. 50 Cent claims he turned up to court wearing a chain he had snatched from Rule during the fight.
The beef continues, with neither side willing to bury the hatchet. As a result, they end up screaming at each other in first-class sections of flights, and being given a good telling off when they start fighting with pillows.
