Real Betis vs Atletico Madrid: Lookman shines in Copa del Rey

Ademola Lookman scored on his Atletico Madrid debut as his new side thrashed Betis 5-0 in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.

David Hancko headed in the 12th-minute opener from a corner before Giuliano Simeone slotted in to double the advantage in the 30th minute and Lookman fired in from inside the box eight minutes before half-time, completing a one-two with Pablo Barrios started by the forward inside his own half.

Antoine Griezmann collected Lookman’s pass to lash in the fourth in the 62nd minute, with Thiago Almada sweeping in to complete the scoring seven minutes from time.

Barcelona, Real Sociedad and Athletic Club are also in the semi-finals, which will be drawn on Friday. The two-legged ties will start in February and conclude in March.

Atalanta vs Juventus: La Dea win Coppa Italia quarter-final

Atalanta gained revenge for their 2021 and 2024 Coppa Italia defeats by beating Juventus 3-0, although the visitors were unfortunate not to go ahead early on when Francisco Conceicao shot against the crossbar.

Gianluca Scamacca gave Atalanta a 27th-minute lead with a penalty after Gleison Bremer was adjudged to have handled Ederson’s cross, and Kamaldeen Sulemana slotted in Raoul Bellanova’s cross to land La Dea a two-goal cushion with 13 minutes remaining.

Mario Pasalic’s deflected shot in the 85th minute ensured Atalanta will advance to a meeting with the victors of holders Bologna’s home match against Lazio, to be held on February 11.

Inter won 2-1 at home to Torino in the first quarter-final on Wednesday and will face the winners of Napoli’s home tie against Como, which takes place on February 10.

The two-legged semi-finals will take start between March 3-5 and conclude between April 21-23. Bologna or Lazio, Atalanta, Inter and Napoli or Como will be at home in the first legs.

Strasbourg won 3-1 at home to Monaco to reach the last eight of the Coupe de France, earning a fourth win out of five under former Wolves and Bournemouth manager Gary O’Neil as Liam Rosenior’s former club recovered from a late defeat against visitors Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.

Martial Godo headed Le Racing in front in the seventh minute, with former Brighton & Hove Albion winger Enciso striking from inside the box in the 55th and 61st minutes.
