Zinchenko awaits Ajax medical as clubs continue negotiations

According to Sky Sports, Oleksandr Zinchenko is currently in Amsterdam, awaiting a green light to undergo a medical ahead of a permanent transfer from Arsenal to Ajax.

The Ukraine international joined Nottingham Forest on loan for this season with no January termination clause, but having made use of his services just five times in the Premier League, Forest have actually pushed for the loan to be terminated and the player to return to North London.

Ajax have obviously agreed personal terms with Zinchenko, but they are yet to reach an agreement with Arsenal over the terms of the transfer.

Zinchenko arrived to the Premier League to join Manchester City back in 2016, though he spent his first year on City’s books on loan at PSV Eindhoven. A midfielder by trade, he was mostly used by Pep Guardiola as a left-back, and he joined Arsenal in 2022, reportedly with the aim of playing more in his natural role. However, even at Arsenal he mostly played as a left-back, and ended up surplus to requirements – just like at Forest.

Now 29, he is set to try his luck at Ajax.
