Infinity Castle Returns to Theaters, Delaying Streaming Release

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has one goal in 2026: Bring its latest movie to streaming. In 2025, the world watched as Ufotable brought Tanjiro back to theaters with its most ambitious anime to date. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle made its grand debut to record-breaking success as audiences transformed the movie into anime’s top-grossing of all time. Still, the streaming release for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has yet to surface, and a new update suggests it’s not coming anytime soon.

Why is that? Well, you have the team at Ufotable to thank. The studio is bringing the anime movie back to theaters, after all.

Demon Slayer’s Return to Theaters Is Bad News for Streaming

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is officially slated to return to theaters in February, so you know what that means. If the movie is still viable for a theatrical release, there is no way it’ll make it to streaming. Audiences in Japan will be able to revisit the magic of Demon Slayer in theaters on February 6th for a one-day-only event. So given the grand announcement, it is safe to say Tanjiro will not bring his new film to streaming before the end of February at best.

As for the movie’s return to theaters, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is getting an impressive upgrade. The anime will hit the big screen with an extended 1:43:1 aspect ratio. Given the movie’s impressive box office, there is no doubt Ufotable and Toho / Aniplex want to milk the project for all it can. To date, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has grossed nearly $780 million USD, and special releases like this will only pump up those numbers.

If you are curious as to when Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle will drop its streaming plans, you should not have to wait too much longer. After all, fans are already speculating Anime Japan 2026 will give an update on the situation. The event, which is slated for March 28–29, will feature dozens of high-profile projects and studios, including Demon Slayer. The event would be a perfect place for Ufotable to confirm the streaming release of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. And if we are lucky, we will get an update on the movie’s highly anticipated sequel.
