Mert Komur weighing up Arsenal move

Arsenal are contemplating a January transfer move for attacking midfielder Mert Komur, currently playing for Bundesliga minnows FC Augsburg. The German player is comfortable playing in midfield or as a forward, with his preferred position as a central attacking midfielder, and has many characteristics similar to that of Arsenal player Kai Havertz. 20-year-old Komur would be allowed to leave his current club for around 15 million euros, according to reports from Germany.

The Gunners are ready to let Ethan Nwaneri depart the Emirates Stadium in search of regular first-team football, and with the Englishman set for a loan move for French outfit Marseille, there are reports that Arsenal could make a January move for Komur. If a transfer deal cannot be arranged this month, Mikel Arteta‘s side will make another attempt this summer.

Komur has bagged two Bundesliga goals already this season and is said to be a massive fan of Arsenal player Havertz, with the player modelling his own game on the former Chelsea star.

Augsburg do not want to sell the German under-21 international but are aware that the interest of Arsenal is likely to persuade Komur to depart his current club.
