Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is the newest iteration of Gene Roddenberry’s 60-year-old franchise, and here’s everything you need to know to watch. Created by Gaia Violo, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is executive produced by Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau and is the 6th Star Trek series produced by Kurtzman and Secret Hideout.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy takes place in the late 32nd century after the end of Star Trek: Discovery. Although a direct spinoff of Star Trek: Discovery, knowledge of the Sonequa Martin-Green-led series is not necessary to watch or enjoy Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.
Led by Academy Award winner Holly Hunter as Captain Nahla Ake, the Chancellor of Starfleet Academy, and Academy Award nominee Paul Giamatti as season 1’s recurring villain, Nus Braka, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy introduces a cast of fresh new faces played by Sandro Rosta, Bella Shepard, Kerrice Brooks, Karim Diané, Zoë Steiner, and George Hawkins.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy was already renewed for season 2, which is in production. Meanwhile, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy kicks off Star Trek’s 60th anniversary year in 2026.
