Anime’s Next Great Hero Is the Only One We Know Can Beat Goku (We Swear)

There’s no denying that Dragon Ball’s Goku is one of the most iconic characters in anime, but if there’s any character who might be able to usurp him, it’s the star of this highly anticipated anime series.

There aren’t many characters in entertainment more popular than Goku. He’s the star of Dragon Ball, one of the most popular media franchises in the world, and the shining star of the shōnen genre as a whole. If there was going to be someone who could reach his heights, they’d have to already be massive in their own right.

Goku Is the Pinnacle of Anime

Goku is easily the most popular character in anime. Even people who have never seen an anime series before recognize Son Goku. His spiky black hair, orange gi, and even his Super Saiyan form have transcended the anime medium and have cemented him as an icon.

There are a few other hugely popular characters in anime: Naruto Uzumaki, Monkey D. Luffy, and Ichigo Kurosaki, but even the lead protagonists of The Big Three of shōnen have nothing on Goku.

There has never really been another character in anime comparable to Goku. To be comparable to Kakarot, a character not only needs to be popular by themselves, but they also need to be attached to an iconic franchise.

There’s a new anime series that has been greenlit for production, and it might star the one character who might have an edge over anime’s most iconic character.

If Someone Can Take Goku’s Throne, It’s Godzilla

A new Godzilla anime series has just been greenlit for production. If there’s any character who has the potential to beat Goku, it’s none other than Godzilla. Godzilla has been a titan of entertainment for nearly 100 years, and if the studio behind this new anime gets it right, he might just bring his success to the medium of anime.

There isn’t a lot of information about this new series, but the initial artwork looks promising. It looks like it’ll star a character who can transform into the great Kaiju in a similar vein as Kaiju No. 8.

A new Godzilla anime is incredibly promising and, if done right, should go down as one of the greatest anime series about kaiju. Dragon Ball will always be a king of anime, and this new series has its sights set on Dragon Ball’s throne.

From the creative mind of Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball is a mega multimedia franchise that spans back to the 1980s. Dragon Ball expanded quickly, starting as a serialized manga for Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan. It made its way overseas via manga and an anime adaptation that is enjoyed worldwide. Dragon Ball was the initial starting animated series that followed the adventures of the young Son Goku as he sought after the Dragon Balls. These mystical orbs would grant the wish of any who gathered them together. Then, the series would branch off into the immensely popular Dragon Ball Z, which followed Goku as an adult and featured high-intensity battles and Goku’s never-ending search to be the strongest. The series has also enjoyed several popular video game adaptations and continues to release several new animated series and theatrical films up to the recent popular Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
