General Hospital star Anthony Geary has died at age 78. The actor made his debut on the long-running ABC soap opera in 1978 as Luke Spencer. That iconic role resulted in Geary winning eight Daytime Emmy Award nominations before he left the series in 2015; he returned as a guest star two years later.
Geary, who played Luke Spencer on the soap opera, died on December 14 after experiencing complications from a recent surgery.
His husband, Claudio Gama, released a statement to TV Insider saying that Geary’s death came as a “shock” to him as well as their families and friends. The actor was Gama’s “friend, my companion, my husband.”
