Marvel Officially Confirms The Hulk’s Design For Spider-Man’s New Appearance

The Hulk appears in Spider-Man‘s new crossover project, and his design is just what fans expect from the Marvel hero. In live-action, the Hulk has had two actors in the MCU’s long history. First, Edward Norton gave life to Bruce Banner in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Then, the actor was replaced for 2012’s The Avengers, with Mark Ruffalo staying in the MCU.

Now, Ruffalo is set to return in at least one upcoming MCU movie, as the Hulk is one of the many characters reported to appear in 2026’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The movie will star Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher also showing up. Before then, a 2025 Spider-Man project unites him with the Hulk, giving fans that team-up a year earlier.

Marvel Has Revealed What New Avengers Special’s Hulk Looks Like

The last Marvel project to release on Disney+ in 2025 was Spidey and his Amazing Friends season 4, which arrived on the streaming service on November 26. While the Hulk does not show up in the batch of episodes that have been released — more of the Spider-Man show is set to arrive in 2026 — the hero is present in another Spidey project.

Marvel released a crossover special that unites the stars of Spidey and his Amazing Friends and Iron Man and His Awesome Friends. It is called Spidey and Iron Man: Avengers Team-Up. The project forms a team with many beloved superheroes aside from the title duo, including Ms. Marvel, Black Panther, Captain America (Sam Wilson) and the Hulk.

The animated special uses a simple design for the Jade Giant. The Hulk’s skin is green and the only piece of clothing that he sports are purple shorts. This version of the Hulk, as he comes from a project aimed at young audiences, is not his angry persona. That said, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is rumored to bring back Savage Hulk for those who want that.

How The New Avengers Special’s Hulk Compares To Other Versions Of The Marvel Hero?

Hulk prepares to fight in the Battle of New York in The Avengers

In terms of how this animated version of the Hulk compares to other adaptations of the character, the answer is clear. Spidey and Iron Man: Avengers Team-Up‘s Hulk spotlights the character’s most iconic and basic design. Various representations of Banner’s alter ego have appeared with the green skin and purple shorts combo over the years.

At times, the shorts were pants, with the Jade Giant having appeared in different tones of green in live-action, with comics and animation exploring other colors entirely, like grey. In 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, Edward Norton’s Banner holds the purple shorts in front of a mirror but doesn’t put them on. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ruffalo’s Hulk sports faded purple pants. The Spider-Man special is more comics-accurate.
