Chelsea boss Maresca manager of the month for November

Enzo Maresca has been named the Premier League’s manager of the month for November.

The Blues picked up 10 points from a possible 12, and drew with leaders Arsenal despite having 10 men for more than half of the game.

“This kind of thing is because you do the right things in terms of performance and results. For us November was fantastic,” Maresca said.

“December, we didn’t start in the way we would like, even if it’s just one week ago. So it’s just three games in a row in one week that we didn’t get results that we expect.”

Igor Thiago was named player of the month, the first Brentford player to win the award, after he scored five times.

Thiago said: “It means so much to me. I’m really happy to receive this because it means my hard work on the pitch has paid off.

“I’m surprised! But hopefully I can receive more of these this season. I’m so happy and proud of myself.”

Maresca is the sixth Blues manager to win the award on multiple occasions, after Carlo Ancelotti, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte.

In total, nine Chelsea managers have won the prize.

Chelsea’s November Premier League results:

  • Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea
  • Chelsea 3-0 Wolves
  • Burnley 0-2 Chelsea
  • Chelsea 1-1 Arsenal
