135 movies and TV shows are blocked on Netflix for subscribers to the platform’s advertising tier, as of December 2025 (see full list below). The streaming era began with Netflix, but the giant has still been impacted in the increasingly competitive landscape. The ad tier was launched in November 2022 and has always been hindered by blocked Netflix Originals and licensed titles.

As of right now, 1.74% of the total Netflix library of 7,751 titles is blocked for ad-tier subscribers, the trade-off for a lower subscription price, along with having to watch some ads that occur throughout a movie or TV show. This is actually notably lower than when the ad tier first launched, with 5.1% of titles blocked. However, it means missing out on many experiences.

The majority of Netflix’s DreamWorks Animation series and specials are unavailable on the ad-tier. House of Cards, a Netflix show that helped shape the platform in the very beginning, is also blocked. The list of non-Netflix original titles unavailable is much longer, but includes some major hits from just the last year, and old classics movie aficionados may always want to revisit.

2025 movies missing include 28 Years Later, Ballerina, and the currently trending Caught Stealing. Those who follow the award-laden careers of Quentin Tarantino or Greta Gerwig may be disappointed that The Hateful Eight and Frances Ha are also on the list, along with Damien Chazelle’s critical hit from more than 10 years ago, Whiplash.

There are also several non-MCU superhero movies and the Karate Kid movies. The list is much shorter for licensed TV series, but Queen of the South is among them. Check out the full list of titles blocked on Netflix’s ad tier below:
