Jack Grealish appreciates an honest, no “bulls***” approach, according to Everton manager David Moyes.

After struggling for form and fitness across the past two seasons at Manchester City, Grealish has featured regularly for Everton since joining the Toffees in August.

Grealish has featured in every single Premier League match he has been eligible for this season, making 12 starts. He has only missed out against his parent club Man City.

The playmaker has created 26 chances, with 25 of those coming from open play – a tally only bettered by Jeremy Doku (31). Grealish’s 3.0 expected assists (xA) ranks behind only Doku (3.5).

Grealish got going by assisting twice in each of his first two starts for Everton, while he netted his second goal for the Toffees to earn a 1-0 win at Bournemouth on Tuesday.

And Moyes feels an honest approach is helping to get the best out of the 30-year-old.

Ahead of Saturday’s clash with Nottingham Forest, Moyes said: “I don’t think I’ve done an awful lot with Jack to be honest.

“We’ve tried to give him a bit of love and made him feel really welcome. The crowd have really taken to him.

“Quite often when you come from another Premier League team it’s not that easy to settle in. He’s played well to add to that, scored a few goals, got a few assists.

“He can pick it up a bit more, no doubt about that. I’ve got no problem telling Jack straight, correctly, I don’t need to tell him any lies or bulls***. He’s big enough to accept it.

“You have to manage players differently but I think most players want to be spoken to straight. Sometimes you can be disliked because the truth isn’t something everyone wants to hear.

“Jack wants the truth, wants to be pushed and told. He’s responded to it. He’s playing 90 minutes in the games, and at never have we thought about leaving him out because he needs a rest.

“In the main, Jack’s been really good, available, fit and healthy and not missing training. We’re pleased with him.”
