Ocarina Of Time Reimagined In Jaw-Dropping New Visual Style

It’s been almost 30 years since The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time released on the N64. And since that seminal 1998 release, Nintendo has brought the game to its Nintendo Switch Online service, and given us a 3DS remake with some notable improvements. However, nothing comes close to this new reimagined version that has us dreaming of an Ocarina of Time remake made in this style.

As seen on YouTube, RwanLink has created a video showing off a more anime style for Ocarina of Time that has Link going around Gerduo’s Fortress (and you can watch it in 4K in all its glory). The video was made in Unreal Engine 5, and it looks amazing, as Link explores one of the most iconic locations from the original game. You can see the full video below.

Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Never Looked This Good

Over the course of the video, we see Link fighting the Gerudo, hanging out beside Link’s trusty horse Epona, and exploring with Navi hovering around him. On nostalgia alone, it’s great, but the art style using UE5 really shows us what we’re missing by Nintendo not officially having an Ocarina of Time remake that looks this good.

There have been plenty of fan-made Ocarina of Time videos before, but this one from RwanLink really presents a good balance between The Legend of Zelda‘s animated style and an upgraded aesthetic that doesn’t lean too heavily into realism. At times, it looks like the perfect balance between Breath of the Wild and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.

We Wish It Was An Official Release

The downside, of course, is that this isn’t a real remake but rather a fan-made video. It’s not playable, although it’s definitely worth rewatching a few times in order to see some iconic Ocarina of Time locales around the Gerudo Fortress, and admiring the way Link’s expressions look when he’s preparing to fight.

With apologies to the 3DS, but this is what an Ocarina of TIme remake should look like. It’s not trying to be hyper-realistic like The Witcher 4, but it’s also not using the retro toon style of remakes like Link’s Awakening. It feels like Ocarina of Time, but with a necessary (and beautiful) update to its graphics.

Sadly, there are no hints Nintendo is making a version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time that looks anything like this, which means we’re stuck wishing this fan-made video were an actually-playable, full game. But with videos like this one, it’s always nice to dream.
