The Pitt began streaming in January 2025, but December marks a whole new chapter for the popular series. The Pitt is a medical drama series that has become incredibly popular among a growing fanbase after premiering its first season earlier in 2025.
With that success, another season of the series was put into production shortly after season 1 ended, and it’s set to release early in 2026. However, before season 2 is finally released, there is a lot to look forward to for fans of the show, with a unique re-release scheduled for December.
The Pitt Will Air On TNT Starting December 1
Starting on Monday, December 1, The Pitt will be airing on TNT on a weekly basis. That means all 15 episodes of the series will be available to watch live throughout the month of December, as three episodes will be played back-to-back each week, concluding on December 29.
This also provides the perfect run-up to The Pitt season 2, which will arrive on HBO Max from January 2026. So, if you haven’t watched the show in months, or you just fancy a rewatch ahead of the new season, you can do it live, with the rest of the fanbase, every week.
The Pitt Is A Streaming Show That Feels Like Traditional TV
Today, streaming has changed the landscape of TV and how shows are released. Frequently, new seasons of shows will drop in their entirety on any given platform. And for the shows that have a staggered release, they frequently have fewer total episodes than early network shows.
But, The Pitt feels different. Across the first season of the show, there were a total of 15 episodes, which is already a departure from most of the big new releases. But more than that, the show leans into the medical procedural nature of the genre, which makes it feel like a show that’s much easier to enjoy in an episodic format rather than one extended feature.
That comes as no surprise, as the show is a creation of R. Scott Gemmill’s, with executive producer Noah Wyle, a pairing that worked together previously on ER, the highly popular medical drama series that began airing in 1994.
But now, with the show getting a chance to actually have a weekly release (even if it is non-traditional with three episodes airing weekly), The Pitt feels more like old-school procedural TV at its finest. A huge win for fans of the series, and something to look forward to this holiday season.
