Star Wars has just released the backdoor pilot for its most exciting upcoming TV show. Of all the upcoming Star Wars TV shows in development, Ahsoka season 2 is definitely the biggest. With Star Wars‘ movies being ushered back into the spotlight, Ahsoka is the only live-action TV series from Lucasfilm left to release.
That said, there are many Star Wars animated TV shows set for release in the coming years. One is Maul: Shadow Lord, the highly anticipated story that will finally make Maul a lead character. Another show was first announced alongside Maul: Shadow Lord at Star Wars Celebration 2025, with October of that year marking the secret release of its pilot.
Star Wars: Visions Season 3 Contains Another Ninth Jedi Episode
October 29, 2025, saw the release of Star Wars: Visions season 3. The third installment of the show marked another nine anthology episodes from various animation studios, allowing Star Wars to explore stories it never has before. One such story, however, followed on from a Star Wars: Visions season 1 episode, “The Night Jedi: Child of Hope.”
“The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope” continued the story of Kara, the daughter of a lightsaber smith who was secretly forging the ancient weapons for the Jedi. After her father was discovered by sinister forces, though, Kara went on a quest to find him with two Jedi allies.
“The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope” saw Kara encounter a droid named TETO, setting up the next stage of her journey on the path to becoming a Jedi and rescuing her father.
Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi Is Releasing In 2026
“The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope” was a great episode of Star Wars: Visions season 3 in its own right, but it also served as the backdoor pilot for an upcoming Star Wars show. In April 2025, it was announced that Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi would be released in 2026.
This makes Star Wars: Visions season 3’s “Child of Hope” episode the first since this announcement, thus meaning it sets up an entirely new show. In the show, it is likely that Kara will continue her journey and begin training under Jedi Master Juro and his other apprentice, Ethan.
When the first episode featuring Kara, “The Ninth Jedi,” was released as part of Star Wars: Visions season 1, no one knew that this would build towards anything. The same cannot be said for Star Wars: Visions season 3’s episode, which saw Kara coming into her own and defeating Jedi Hunters almost singlehandedly.
Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi will only continue to make Kara stronger as she seeks a way to save her father from the Sith acolytes that threatened her in her first Star Wars appearance. If Star Wars: Visions season 3 was not already a vital watch, the backdoor pilot for a new Star Wars show being hidden within it certainly changes that.
