Petrovic set for Chelsea return

Chelsea are prepared to keep goalkeeper Djordje in their squad next season amid his exceptional campaign with Strasbourg in Ligue 1, according to Daily Mail.

The Serbian shot-stopper had a good debut campaign with the Blues last term. He was loaned out last summer after the arrival of Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal.

Jorgensen was brought to compete with Robert Sanchez for the number one role, but neither have been consistent. Both have even guilty of making high-profile errors.

It is now reported that the Blues are unlikely to invest in a new goalkeeper this summer. Instead, they are ready to reintegrate Petrovic after his temporary stint.

The 25-year-old has been brilliant between the sticks for Strasbourg this campaign and manager Enzo Maresca could hand him an opportunity to redeem himself.

Petrovic’s passing had been a concern in the past, but he has improved during his time in Ligue 1. He could become the first-choice keeper for the Blues next term.
