Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is reportedly unhappy after he was denied the opportunity to leave the club, according to Football Insider.
The Uruguay international has been a fringe player under manager Arne Slot this campaign and he is widely expected to depart this summer.
However, it is reported that Nunez has cut a frustrated figure over recent weeks as he wanted to leave the Reds in the last transfer window.
Al-Hilal were interested in securing his services for around €70m. They asked permission to speak with Nunez, but the Reds rejected the proposal.
Nunez is said to be disappointed with the club’s decision, considering he is now the third-choice striker behind Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.
The Merseyside giants are expected to open the door for his exit later this year. It is likely that Al-Hilal will make a renewed move for him.
The Reds may want a marquee striker to replace the former Benfica man. Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak is one of the names on their radar.
