Jarrod Bowen’s fine angled drive gave West Ham a draw at Everton in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first game in charge.
The Hammers were subdued in the first half and Everton exploited their Achilles heel at defending set-pieces when Michael Keane headed in powerfully.
West Ham have conceded eight goals from corners in the Premier League this season, as many as they did in the whole of 2024-25.
But the visitors were much improved in the second half and deservedly drew level when Bowen cut inside from the right and smashed a shot past Jordan Pickford.
The goal was set up by a rampaging run from left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf, who was brilliant in the second half, and was the first Everton have conceded in the Premier League at their new home.
Bowen went close to a second for the Hammers before James Garner’s powerful stoppage-time shot forced Alpohnse Areola into a good save.
Nuno – who replaced the sacked Graham Potter at the weekend – will have seen plenty in the second half to work on as they face Arsenal next weekend.
