Manchester United legend Gary Neville has heaped praise on Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta following the 2-1 comeback win over Newcastle United in the Premier League.
The Gunners made a statement with a victory over the Magpies on the road. They looked on course for a 1-0 defeat before a late comeback. Mikel Merino equalised before Gabriel’s stoppage-time winner.
Speaking after the game, Neville said that the victory was so big for Arsenal and Arteta. He added that the Gunners were the better football team and the victory will give huge confidence to the side.
He said: “That was so big for Arsenal and so big for Mikel Arteta. They deserved it.They were the better football team. Mikel Arteta made really good substitutions. That will give them huge confidence.”
With the victory, the Gunners have moved within two points off league leaders Liverpool. They will be aiming to claim the top spot next weekend if the Reds were to drop points against Chelsea on the road.
