Chelsea defender Jorrel Hato could pursue a loan deal during the January transfer window to avoid missing out on World Cup selection with the Netherlands, according to Soccernews.
The Dutchman signed for the Blues from Ajax during the summer transfer window, and he has been used sparingly during the early weeks of the campaign.
Hato is seen as a deputy to Marc Cucurella for the left-back position. He started his career as a centre-back, but the Blues don’t see him as a centre-back option.
It is now reported that the Blues are not overly pleased with Hato’s performances during the early part of the campaign, and he is unlikely to start regularly.
Hato has been told that he won’t be selected for the Dutch squad without regular playing time. He could therefore return to the Eredivisie on loan in the New Year.
It will be interesting to see whether the Blues consider his temporary exit. They may want a replacement in the squad before parting ways with him on a short-term loan.
