Lex Luthor Cameo & 16 Other Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6 Easter Eggs

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Peacemaker season 2, episode 6Peacemaker season 2, episode 6 features some really fun Easter eggs and connections to the greater DCU, including a major cameo from James Gunn’s Superman. After traveling to an alternate dimension, the rest of the 11th St. Kids have gone after Chris Smith to bring him back home. As such, there are several fun ties and multiversal references along the way.

Previously in Peacemaker season 2, episode 5, Chris Smith chose to leave the main DCU reality behind, believing he was never meant for this world that’s constantly giving him bad breaks, especially with ARGUS closing in on all sides. Now, Peacemaker season 2, episode 6 is largely set in this alternate dimension, while also featuring a major Superman appearance.

D&D Cutpurse

A monster from the new Monster Manual in D&D 5e

Adrian Chase’s mother reveals she joined her son’s D&D campaign when he didn’t have enough players, confirming she’s a level 4 cutpurse (otherwise known as a low-level underworld thief).

Vigilante’s Beanie Baby Collection & Stretch

Beanie babies

It seems as though Vigilante bought into the real-life Beanie Baby collection craze with a closet full of the stuffed animals and the belief that the market’s about to boom. He also says that Stretch the Ostrich is the cutest one (a quick Google search confirms he’s quite valuable, too).

Xenomorph

Encountering the Kyphotic alien once more in the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, John Economos refers to the other-dimensional being as a “Xenomorph”, a reference to the classic monsters of the Alien franchise.

Belle Reve

Belle Reve Creature Commandos Episodes 1 and 2

Rick Flag Sr. makes a call to Belle Reve, the DCU’s maximum security prison for metahumans (and the traditional pool for the majority of Amanda Waller’s Task Force X candidates).

The Reverse-Peacemaker

Economos refers to the alt-DCU’s Chris Smith as the “Reverse-Peacemaker”. This is more than likely a reference to DC’s Reverse-Flash, the arch foe and opposite of Barry Allen’s Flash.

Mick Jagger & The Beatles

While talking with Harcourt about bands like Helloween, Keith Smith reveals that Mick Jagger was the lead singer of The Beatles in this reality, instead of The Rolling Stones.

Cheeri-ohs

Cherrios in Peacemaker season 2

Loving every little change in this new reality, Vigilante absolutely goes nuts over a box of Cheerios (and its subtle name change in this alternate reality).

Spider-Man Pointing Meme

At their first encounter, the dual Vigilantes do the “Spider-Man Pointing” meme, not only canonizing Spider-Man as a fictional character in the DCU but also the classic meme originating from 1967’s Spider-Man series that’s since become synonymous with several multiversal superhero adventures. The meme was notably featured in both Spider-Man: No Way Home and both Spider-Verse movies.

Lex Luthor

Rick Flag requests the help of none other than Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor. Luthor is incarcerated in Belle Reve, as was teased at the end of James Gunn’s Superman. He’s also shown using a cane, the result of the brutal beatdown he received from Krypto the Superdog. We can also hear Lex’s “LuthorCorp” theme, first heard in Superman, as he sits down.

“Vigilantes? Who Gives A S***?”

Lex Luthor reveals how little he cares about non-powered vigilantes, believing they’re not a threat compared to metahumans like Superman. Clearly, he’s yet to have a meaningful encounter with Batman in the DCU.
