While Crane’s arsenal of deadly hand-crafted weaponry is easily one of the more exciting gameplay aspects of Dying Light: The Beast, you’ll need a constant supply of materials to keep you going. Being used for boosters, weapon upgrades, repairs, and crafting powerful tools, knowing where to find each material can save you a lot of headaches later on.

Thankfully, Dying Light: The Beast does tell you some of the best places to find each item by hovering over them in your inventory, but they often fail to list some of the easier methods of acquiring them. If you’re willing to take the risk, I’ve found that luring enemies from a much higher-level area into a watchtower’s UV lights can offer a significant boon in resources early on.

Where To Find Batteries, Electrical Parts, & Wiring

The easiest way to find all your more technical supplies, like Batteries, Electrical Parts, and Wiring, is to head over to the nearest Electrical Store Dark Zone. Easily spotted with the plug symbol over a house on the map, these Dark Zones are typically found within malls and other similarly stocked stores that are crawling with zombies.

It’s also important to keep an eye out for any lootable electrical devices when using survivor sense, as rarer materials like Batteries can be used in some powerful weapon modifications. At the same time, uncommon wires can be converted into useful early-game offensive tools, such as grenades or decoys.

Where To Find Cleaning Supplies, Cans, & Alcohol

Being some of the more commonplace items in Dying Light: The Beast, Cleaning Supplies, Cans, and Alcohol can be found pretty much anywhere across the game world, from looting enemies, but specific locations can offer a more densely packed variety. Used for several weapon mods and crafting recipes, your best bet is to keep an eye out for any General Store Dark Zones in the area.

Kitchens in apartments and other houses are also a great way to get a hold of some of these materials if you’re on the go or don’t feel like stopping at a specific store, while Alcohol can be commonly found on the corpses of slain zombies. With how much combat has evolved in The Beast, there’s even more incentive to go out and hunt down any infected for these valuable materials.

Where To Find Oxidizers, Pigments, & Resin

Another set of resources that has a store all to themselves, you’ll want to look for any Pharmacy Dark Zones to find Oxidizers, Pigments, and Resin, with the latter also spawning in groves around the map.

These medical materials also commonly spawn in generic bathrooms all across Castor Woods, making them one of the most valuable places to check for resources while exploring.

Where To Find Feathers, Leather, & Rags

Clothing materials like Feathers, Leather, and Rags are some of the more valuable items in the game, given how often you need to use them, but thankfully, they aren’t too uncommon to find. While your best bet for feathers and leather is to visit your local vanity store and loot the place clean, Rags are scattered practically everywhere you go and are commonly found on zombie corpses.

If you’re looking specifically for more Feathers to craft bow-related upgrades or ammo, another excellent place to visit is any nearby watchtowers, as they will often spawn a couple for you to collect each time you visit or spawn there. Chicken coops around the farmhouses toward the villa area are also an excellent source of Feathers, saving you from sifting through other materials at the same time.

Where To Find Scraps, Blades, & Weights

Being used in all sorts of weapon crafting and repairs, simple supplies like Scraps, Blades, and Weights can surprisingly be some of the more exciting materials you’ll come across. Most commonly found within Tool Store Dark Zones, toolboxes, and near workbenches, these materials shouldn’t be too hard to get a hold of, but have reliable places to spawn if you need a few extra.

Scraps themselves are a material that can be found virtually anywhere in Dying Light: The Beast, making it essential to keep an eye out everywhere you go, given how often you’ll be using them to repair or craft powerful weaponry throughout the game.

Where To Find Fuel & Gun Parts

Being required to enhance and craft all sorts of powerful firearms, the best place to find Gun Parts is by dismantling weapons acquired from military convoys. Given how many powerful enemies often hang out around these areas, it’s a good idea to save Crane’s Beast Mode abilities acquired from the deadly Chimeras for the encounter.

Used for Flamethrower ammo, Gas Grenades, and refilling cars, Fuel can be siphoned from the gas tanks of vehicles and gas stations, or found in large fuel cans near convoys and supply caches. While most cars will turn up empty, I’ve had much more luck searching for large trucks, like the ones parked in the northern industrial area.

Where To Find Cordyceps, Poppy, Chamomile, Honey, & Lavender

Being some of the most challenging materials to get a hold of in the early game due to a lack of a dedicated Dark Zone, your best bet to find Cordyceps, Poppy, Chamomile, Honey, and Lavender is to keep an eye out while exploring the wilderness of Castor Woods. Used in boosters and weapons mods, these materials can be the difference between survival and a swift end in The Beast‘s zombie-filled wilderness.

Despite the rarity, some dedicated groves offer a higher chance of yielding these valuable materials, making it a good idea to take note and revisit rooftop gardens or cliffsides that you’ve found these materials on in the past, especially given how often they can be found behind large-scale hideouts.

Given how challenging it can be to get a hold of some of these more annoyingly rare resources, I would recommend spending the extra money to simply buy them from a merchant like the Exile’s Cave Shop and save yourself the headache of trying to farm them, letting you enjoy everything else Dying Light: The Beast has to offer instead.
