HBO's Must-Watch 95% Rotten Tomatoes Crime Drama of Fall 2025

Task Is Must-Watch Television On HBO Max Right Now

The underlying star of the series, however, is Jamie McShane, best known for his role as Sheriff Donovan Galpin in Netflix’s Wednesday. McShane plays Perry Corazo in Task, a high-ranking member of a dangerous biker gang. Critics have raved over his performance, with some even calling it worthy of an Emmy nomination and a career best.

Screen Rant gave Task 9 out of 10 stars rating, calling it “stunning” and “HBO’s new masterpiece.” We also noted how creator Brad Ingelsby, best known for his 4-time Emmy-winning series Mare of Easttown, “writes with natural immersion and masterful authenticity that transcends both genre and medium.”

Task Is The First Legitimate 2026 Emmy Contender

Task was released on HBO just a week before the 2025 Emmy Awards were held and is already a contender for the 2026 ceremony in roughly a year’s time. Since Ingelsby found success with Mare of Easttown, which received a total of 16 Emmy nominations, he’s in a great position to expand his total Emmy wins with Task.

While the 2026 Emmys are a ways away, the cutoff period for next year’s Emmy consideration ends in May 2026, which is not too far off in the world of TV. Task will release its series finale in about a month on October 19, 2025. Based on its critical reception and streaming popularity, it will likely retain its Emmy buzz well into the new year.
