Jimmy Kimmel Live! is officially returning to ABC, but a major broadcaster still won’t be airing the show. After being taken off the air “indefinitely”, there was extensive public backlash, and the decision was ultimately reversed, with Kimmel’s return now slated for September 23.
According to Deadline, Sinclair Broadcast Group will still be preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! on its ABC affiliate stations when the show returns and airing news programming instead. However, Sinclair is still in discussions with ABC. Check out Sinclair’s statement below:
Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming. Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show’s potential return.
