Man Utd handed Chido Obi selection blow

Manchester United wonderkid Chido Obi won’t be available for the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 tie against Real Sociedad on Thursday night.

The 17-year-old has been a regular substitute for the Red Devils this month. He came on for Rasmus Hojlund against Fulham recently and produced a good showing.

The teenager missed three big chances to score. One of those looked destined to find the back of the net, but goalkeeper Bernd Leno came up with a fantastic save.

Obi is now ineligible to face Sociedad in the Europa League. He was not registered in the A-list squad and can’t be picked in the B-list either for the knock-out stage.

Obi arrived from Arsenal‘s academy last summer. He needs to spend at least two years at the club to become eligible to make the B-list for players aged 21 or below.

Hojlund is expected to continue as the main striker versus Sociedad.
