Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has said that striker Marc Guiu needs to improve before he can become a regular part of the first-team plans this season.
The Spaniard was loaned out to Sunderland at the start of the campaign, but was recalled before the transfer deadline after a hamstring injury for Liam Delap.
Guiu was not in the matchday squad on his return against Brentford last weekend. He was on the bench versus Bayern Munich, but did not feature at all.
Speaking to reporters, Maresca has now said that he intends to use the former Barcelona graduate, but he needs to improve to play a part for the club.
He said: “Marc [Guiu] is back, the intention is to use him. He needs to do things better, he needs to improve things. For sure, we are going to use him.”
Chelsea face Manchester United on the road tomorrow. They will be aiming to return to winning ways after a 3-1 defeat to Bayern in the Champions League.
