Understanding the prize money structure
The ICC’s prize structure is designed to ensure all participating teams receive a baseline amount for merely competing. Each team, including those eliminated early, is guaranteed $125,000. Further financial incentives were in place for group-stage victories, rewarding teams with an additional 34,000 per win. The prize structure also ensures that those finishing in fifth or sixth place secure $350,000, while teams in the seventh and eighth positions receive $140,000 each.
Financial fallout for England
Due to the nature of their early exit, England did not qualify for the higher-tier financial rewards reserved for semi-finalists or the top four teams. As a result, they will receive the participation fee of $140,000. In total, England’s earnings amount to $265,000, equivalent to that of teams like Pakistan, positioning them far from the ambitious financial targets tied to deeper tournament penetration.
